A little bit about the owners: David Preas and Tim Phillips
David Preas and Tim Phillips worked at a chemical company for 29 years. They started growing a little hay on the ten acres at David's farm and 10 acres at Tim's farm. This started as hay for their horses and a few select friends. They bought used equipment to get started and soon saw a need for good quality hay at reasonable prices. Diamond Point Hay was started in 2001. With a few acres of leased land they were operating small but were in the hay business.
With David’s back ground in farming and Tim's love of horses it didn't take long to realize they couldn’t grow enough hay to meet the needs of their clients'. They started bringing hay in from out of state to meet the rising demand.
As business grew they took on more leased land and trucked in more out of state hay. They were soon farming 100 acres in 2004 and up to 200 acres by 2007. In February of 2008 the ADM feed and supplement line along with tack, barn supplies and bulk shavings were added. They now have a warehouse showroom for clients to actually come to that opened on February 29, 2008.
David lives in the Whaleyville section of Suffolk with his wife Allison. Allison helps a great deal by driving tractors, balers, rakes and other farming equipment. It is a site to see. A true farm lady was born. They all strive to do whatever it takes to assist their clients in being fully satisfied with their hay production and the products they carry.
Tim lives in the Holland area of Suffolk where the warehouse shop is located and open for business 7 days a week. Tim runs the warehouse daily and handles the majority of client contact.
Thank you to all of their varied clients, friends and vendors that have helped them along the way. Tim and David are looking forward to serving the Suffolk and surrounding areas for many years to come.
